I found this interesting bike project on makezine.com. Looks pretty sweet.
I am sitting here at work, it’s raining outside. I am eating some lunch. I just went over to break.com and found this classic:
Yesterday I rode with Doug and Arnie from the club out to Fox Field. It was cold so Doug and I had a cup of coffee while Arnie ate. We continued on out to Munz Ranch Road while Arnie headed back home to get to a meeting. The wind was starting to get bad the closer we got to Munz. When we started climbing it was straight into a nasty headwind. Asbolutely evil. The wind never let up. We ground out the climb and made it to Elizabth Lake Road. The cruise to Godde Hill wasn’t too bad. The wind was pushing us a bit but it was a crosswond for the most part. Once up Godde Hill there was a construction project going on. We had to follow a pilot truck through the construction zone. Once past that I continued on back to Gil’s to get my car. Doug went off home. 43 miles for the day. The wind was bad. Today I went for a short spin around the neighborhood. The wind was worse! Time for football.
I got a great idea from WildBell about riding for 2007. He has a goal to do 2007 miles for the year 2007. I have set a goal to average 100 miles a week for the year. So far I am behind. The weather has been less than favorable for riding. My usual weekday riding time is early in the morning. Lately it has been less than 20F which makes for miserable riding. The wind chill has gotten as low as 1F. I can make up some miles when the weather warms up. Plus race miles will help too. 4,949.12 to go.
The photo in the post below was used on January 17th, 2006 by the Antelope Valley Press for a reader-submitted photo layout about the ice and freezing conditions over the last week. Unfortunately the avpress site didn’t run the feature. But, it’s a start for me as a photographer. More to come in the near future. Check out my work on Flickr.

What you get when you leave your sprinklers on and it is below freezing.

We’re in a cold snap here in SoCal. While not as nasty as the east coast or more northern climates can experience this is rare here in SoCal. At 5:00am I got up to let our dogs out and it was 20F. At 8:00am is was down to 19F. The dogs water tub was frozen good. About 1/2 inch of ice on top. I smashed it up and threw some ice onto the patio. It’s now 2 hours later and the ice has not melted at all. It’s a chilly 24F in the shade. The high for today is 40F. Brrr.
Here we are in 2007. All of the spending is over, sort of, the xmas lights are down, time to chill.
I got in a good hangover ride on January 1, 2007. The club did a nice ride. I managed 20 miles before I felt like wrapping it up. Total distance was 30 miles.
Time for serious training for the 2007 criterium scene. I can’t wait to get back into some 4 corner shenanigans.
